Course Excellence and Guest Experience

Manor Golf Club continues to deliver top-tier course conditions, with its classic clay-based greens earning continual praise from loyal golfers. The course has been voted “Best of Berks” for nine consecutive years and the Reading Eagle’s Reader’s Choice Award winner for three straight years—testament to the consistent quality and warm hospitality that define the Manor experience. Regular players often note that they “feel like family,” a reflection of the club’s inclusive and welcoming culture.

Strategic Improvements and Growth

Over the past decade, Manor Golf Club has undergone a steady transformation. Despite industry challenges, the facility has reinvested in every aspect of the player experience, from new cart paths and upgraded fleets to refreshed picnic and tournament areas. The club now hosts over 70 charity and corporate outings annually, fueling both community connection and financial sustainability. After enduring one of its most difficult seasons in 2018, Manor Golf Club doubled its revenues by 2024—an extraordinary turnaround driven by innovation and perseverance.

Leadership and Team Excellence

Manor’s success is the product of a dedicated, close-knit team. Superintendent Eric Krick, whose family has tended the course for over 40 years, leads an expert maintenance crew that keeps the century-old layout in pristine condition. Head Golf Professional Matt Reed and LPGA Instructor Dr. Sharon Barley anchor the club’s robust teaching programs, fostering growth among juniors, beginners, and women golfers alike. Together, they embody the club’s mission of offering “Great Value, Great Views, Great Fun... Great Golf.”

Community Commitment

Manor Golf Club has become a cornerstone of the Berks County community. Through its extensive tournament schedule, the club helps raise over $300,000 annually for local charities and causes. Beyond golf, the course hosts family-friendly events such as free Easter Egg Hunts and Drive-In Movie Nights, and partners with area fitness studios for outdoor yoga and wellness programs. The club’s “Kids and Caddies” program, First Tee partnerships, and “Girls on the Green” initiative underscore its deep investment in youth development and inclusivity.

Advancing the Game of Golf

From introducing new players through Get Golf Ready clinics to developing innovative programs like the BIG League (Beginning in Golf), Manor Golf Club has been a leader in player development and engagement. Its long-standing partnerships with area schools, colleges, and youth organizations have made golf accessible to thousands of students and families.

“Owning and operating Manor Golf Club has been both a privilege and a passion,” said Cheryl Heckman, “Our team’s mission is simple—to share the joy of golf, foster lifelong connections, and serve our community through this wonderful game.”

With over a century of tradition and a bright future ahead, Manor Golf Club stands as a shining example of what a public golf course can be—welcoming, community-driven, and passionately dedicated to growing the game.
